For my creative writing class (Spring 2002), we had several one-page assignments with loose themes. These are what I came up with.
** Autograph - the assignment was to include a car theft somewhere in the narrative.
** The Evidence - microfiction: tell a whole story in one paragraph.
** How To Avoid The Kitchen Word - write a "how to" story in the second person point of view.
** Puzzle - write a first page that will get readers interested.
** To-Do List - microfiction: tell a whole story in one page using only monosyllabic words!
** The Beautiful Mystery - Now that you've warmed up with my one-pagers, here's my twenty-page final story. It's sci-fi/fantasy and manages to touch on Einstein, medicine, and vampires.
